SPAY/NEUTER INFO

Responsible pet ownership and care includes having your cat or dog spayed (females) or neutered (males). Establish a relationship with the local veterinarian of your choice so that you will have someone who knows your pet, and can treat any medical needs. Your veterinarian is also your reliable source for all innoculations and can also provide spay and neuter surgeries.

For low cost spaying and neutering services only, Brunswick County is served by Fix-a-Friend, located at

At times Paws-Ability receives grants to help with the costs of spaying and neutering community cats and to help with pet owners who are in financial need. When such funding is available, we will share that information on this page of our website. Currently, there are no grant funds available.

Understanding TNR

There is only one way to solve the problem of unwanted cats and dogs: have all domestic animals spayed or neutered. Thanks to the concerted efforts of Paws-Ability and the local animal rescue groups, and the efforts of the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Animal Protective Services (BCAPS), all animals now adopted in Brunswick County from any of these groups are spayed or neutered and vaccinated before they are adopted.

When there is funding available, we also work with volunteers throughout the community who trap community (outdoor) cats and transport them to a participating veterinarian for spaying or neutering and being vaccinated before the animal is returned to its neighborhood. This allows the cat to remain in familiar territory, and continue to help reduce rodent population and other services, without reproducing.

PLEASE CONSIDER ADOPTING YOUR NEXT PET FROM ONE OF BRUNSWICK COUNTY’S LOCAL RESCUE GROUPS!
