DAY KREUZBURG

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you about the unexpected passing of Day Kreuzburg.

Day was a champion of animal welfare in Brunswick County and a vital part of Paws-Ability. He has long been a stalwart member, serving on our Board of Directors as Treasurer for 5 years. This past year, he began serving as Director of Logistics, managing contracts and negotiating services and needs for our various fund-raising activities. Day managed grant reports required for more than $85,000 in grant money receved in 4 years for spay and neuter surgeries for our community. Those programs contributed to changing the face of animal welfare in Brunswick County. Day believed in Paws-Ability and worked steadfastly to make us a stronger organization. He believed in our mission, and advocated for making improvements in the lives of animals.

Day leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Diane, their son Brad, their daughter Tracy, their spouses and two grandchildren, and his two beloved Golden Retrievers. His wife, Diane, will face a changed life without Day by her side. Our thoughts and prayers are extended to Day’s family.

Day was an integral part of the infrastructure of Paws-Ability, and we will sorely miss him as we continue our work without him. In addition, Day cast a long shadow in Sea Trail, where he and Diane lived. He served as head of the Facilities Committee there, and everyone knew that when you needed anything, the answer was “Call Day.” Day’s life was about his passion for helping others. Whether to his family, his friends, Sea Trail, or Paws-Ability, Day brought his commitment, his energy, and most of all, his caring to everything that he did.

Donations received in memory of Day will continue to honor his memory and his service. We have received a matching funds offer of $1,000 for these donations. Memorial donations for Day will be applied to services provided by the Fix-a-Friend Spay & Neuter Clinic of Brunswick County. This memorial fund will help to continue Day’s essential work to reduce the number of unwanted animals in our community.

Paws-Ability will decicate the 6th Annual Bicycle Poker Run in memory of Day Kreuzberg.

Donations will be accepted via Paypal on the Paws-Ability.org website, or checks can be made payable to “Paws-Ability” with ‘Day’s Memorial’ noted on them, and mailed to P O Box 6174, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled later to honor Day’s life. Information about this event will be posted later.
