About

[vc_row][vc_column][heading text=”About Paws-Ability” tag=”h1″][vc_column_text]

Paws-Ability is a nonprofit organization with a 501 c 3 status. All donations are tax deductible. We are not a rescue group. We raise funds to support the needs of local animal rescue groups and support animal related programs that affect Brunswick County, such as spay neuter programs and a domestic violence pet protection program.

Funds are raised by events such as the annual Bicycle Poker Run, memorial and gift fund, yard sales, Spay-Ghetti Dinner, Red Toe Day for the pampered pouch and ever changing fundraising ideas approved by the Board of Directors.

We fund, organize and manage growing spay/neuter programs to reduce the number of unwanted animals in our community.

Paws-Ability actively works with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office as they manage Brunswick County Animal Protective Services. This change has resulted in improving the lives of hundreds of animals each month, while changing the public’s perception of the shelter to that of an “Adoption Center.

Paws-Ability funds a pet protection program for victims of domestic violence in conjunction with Hope Harbor Domestic Violence Shelter in Brunswick County.

We assist local animal rescue groups and shelters with the cost of medical needs for animals in their care.

Paws-Ability is one of a chosen few non-profit organizations with a GuideStar Gold rating. GuideStar is a rating program for nonprofit organizations based on IRS compliance and transparency.

Paws-Ability was voted Non-Profit of the Year in 2014 by the Brunswick Chamber of Commerce.

Paws-Ability was awarded the Community Impact Award in January of 2015 by the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce.

Paws-Ability has NO SALARIES. Our work is done with volunteers. You can be assured that the Board of Directors, to the best of their abilities, will always be good stewards of funds raised.

Paws-Ability is a membership-based organization with over 350 family and 80 business members. Membership in Paws-Ability is $10 per year for individuals, $15 per year for a family and $50 per year for a business. Business membership includes a link from our website to the business website.

Paws-Ability was formed in 2007. Since that time, we have donated funds in excess of $500,000 to animal needs and animal related programs that directly affect our community. Programs include spay/neuter programs; a program which provides protection and care for pets of domestic violence victims; and a school program which teaches children about compassion for animals and why it is important to be a responsible pet owner.

We may not change the world but we can and will create positive change in Brunswick County!
